A new analysis, Know your numbers: premature mortality shows the number of deaths of people aged under 75 that would need to be prevented to reach regional and national rates. The report shows that cancer is the main cause of premature mortality in Tees Valley and that about 100 deaths need to be prevented annually to reach the North East average, and 300 to reach the England average for the causes of death considered.
